afc_tracking_ini - Tracking System Add On

Back to Functions List
This Function Has Been Available Since:
(AFCommerce v 2.1,     Functions v 1.1)

Starts the tracking system add on. Also tracks any visitors that have come from any of your affiliates.

afc_tracking_ini (trackaffid)

This function is ONLY available with the tracking system add on, so if you don't have the tracking system add on, this function will NOT be available.

This function starts the tracking system and records any visitors sent to your website from your affiliates. The tracking system will count the number of visitors to your website and where they came from. In order for it to track where the traffic is coming from, you must create an affiliate in the admin area (you can do the same thing with marketing campaigns, just create the campaign as an affiliate). When you create an affiliate, they will have their own personal url to your website with a query string variable which identifies the traffic coming from that affiliate. This function MUST be called before any output is displayed because it sets cookies. If there is any output (including error and warning messages) before this function is called, this function will create additional warning messages when it tries to set its cookies.

By default, this function is already called in header.php, and this is the exact place it should stay (meaning do not move it). If you don't have the tracking system add on, it will not be called, because this software can detect if this function exists, and if it does not, it will simply ignore the function call to it.

trackaffid (integer) - This is the affiliate's tracking variable. Since this function is already called in header.php, you don't need to figure out how to get this value, it is already done for you. If you add the tracking system to your own pages, simply copy the function call in header. Just to explain it anyway, you can get this value from the query string of your website, using the afc_secure_number_GET function.
